The ride was nothing short of exhilarating as I crossed over Silver Lake Road and into the Burnt Mills Trail system. The old snow mobile trail, now known as Standing Stone, took me on a thrilling journey over 4 miles of rough monstercross type terrain. It was as if I had been transported to another world, one where the only sounds were the hum of my tires and the rustling of leaves beneath my wheels.

After standing still at Silver Lake Road for what felt like an eternity, I hung a left onto Little Mud Pond and pedaled furiously through the longest paved section of the ride, 1.5 miles that seemed to stretch on forever. The scenery was breathtaking, with the sun shining down on me and a gentle breeze rustling my hair.

As I turned right onto Ben Bush Road and then left onto Standing Stone Trail, I couldn't help but feel grateful for this beautiful spring day. It was as if the universe had conspired to bring me exactly where I needed to be at that moment – surrounded by nature's splendor, with nothing but the wind in my hair.

Little did I know, this ride would become a defining moment in my summer adventure. The Delaware State Forest would become my playground, and the Filthy 50 route, which I had written about in 2022, would be the backdrop for an unforgettable day of riding with Action Bikes and Outdoor on March 11th.

As I departed the parking lot on Route 739 and began to climb up Five Mile Meadow Road at 10am, I felt a sense of excitement building inside me. This ride was going to be different – more technical trails, fewer paved sections, and an overall more challenging route. It was time to shake things up and see where this new path would lead.

And so, with my bike and my memories by my side, I embarked on this summer adventure, one that would become etched in my memory forever.
